Commenting on the Absentee Voting guide

I am turning off comments on the Absentee Ballot guide, as I intend for it to be a static resource and with the length of time I envisage it being up, comments could make the page size unwieldy and add unnecessary clutter to what is meant to be a simple page.

You are, however, welcome to post your comments on it here. They will not be removed as long as they are polite and un-troll-like.

I just want to say: Let the eagle soar!

Well
Well
I say it again. Look up this word...COURAGE.
Post all the "I AGREE WITH LUKE" comments, it won't change the truth about you Robinson.

M1...OUT

M1,

Contratry to what you may wish to believe there are many "I disagree with you Luke" comments contained in this site. Mine being some of them.

The truth about Mr. Robinson is definitely "COURAGE" as you so eloquently put it. Disagree with the man but, don't attack him it doesn't accomplish anything. As someone posted to me earlier "Bring some information into the debate. Otherwise, its not very meaningful.".

There's enough bashing going on some of which have been mine. Not very constructive just plain DESTRUCTIVE...

You want to debate or disagree then present your points of disagreement without the attacks if you don't mind. Thanks, much appreciated.

This is not some high school or college debate.
The points that those that agree with this site
are as one-sided for it as mine are against it.
When a person feels very passionately about something...debating "points" is not on the agenda. I get that impression from some of the pro-EAB comments posted since October. I also get that impression from the "OTHERS"......
(OF WHICH I AM ONE ). It appears that (and has been proven) Robinson deletes comments that do not meet his guidelines of EAB etiquette. I have had mine removed in less than 24 hours, for no other reason than it didn't meet his approval.
On the flipside...pro-EAB comments will remain for weeks or longer. I was wondering Robinson, why is it that you use the colors of my country as the color scheme for your site, since you are obviously not a patriot...even though you claim to be from S.C. Other anti-EAB comments that I have read have been ignored or blasted instead of being addressed in the manner in which pro-EAB comments have.
It is a pro-EAB website so it stands to reason.
Maybe..just maybe... if you went to a site that opposes your (EAB) views.....well.....that won't happen now will it. That being the point. ALways surround yourself with "YES" men/women.

M1...OUT

DE OPPRESSO LIBER

M1...OUT

Now you've gone and done it M1. You are going to be labelled a troublemaker. The intel community is very interested in this site (with good reason). So take heart brother....
Oh, I almost forgot. Robinson, just stay away from the USA. We don't want you.\
BYE BYE NOW.

sometimes I think I am dreaming -- this is a verbatim quote from CNN's story on bad bad bad France, Russia and Germany being banned from bidding for contracts in Irak --
In the conversations, Bush promised to "keep the lines of communication open," a National Security Council spokesman said, but other U.S. officials said the policy would change only if those bitter Iraq war foes became more complimentary of U.S. efforts in postwar Iraq and offered financial and diplomatic support.

I am sorry, they are talking about a playground, yes?

M1,

You who talk of my lack of courage are posting under a pseudonym, without providing an email address, to MY site. A site which I have created despite small-minded, illiterate simpletons hurling abuse at me, never mind the ever-present threat that I am under surveillance for advocating democratic change.

I am not doing this out of fun, in fact I receive daily throngs of hate mail in addition to the messages of encouragement. I put myself through a lot of grief last month to get this site off the ground, to get the protests organized, and to get publicity for the organization. Without media training and never having even participated in a formal debate, I agreed to be grilled live on air in front of millions of people with high-ranking members of the Republican party as my opposition. I was absolutely petrified the first time I did this, and yet I faced up to it and pulled it off.

What have you done? Posted a couple of times on a website. Well I stand corrected. You are truly a man amongst men.

And, if you'll notice, the only time I deleted your comment was on the Absentee Voting thread, because it was inappropriate to that page, and in fact I made the decision to delete ALL the comments (including a pro-EAB one) from that page and turn off commenting for the reasons I stated above.

I do reserve the right to delete comments if they're obvious trolls, if they're offensive, or if they are just irritations (i.e. someone posting the letter 'j' for a solid paragraph).

I do not delete comments merely based on disagreement or criticism aimed at the site or the organisation. Even a cursory examination of this site will dispel that notion. Do these comments look like they're kissing my ass?

By the way, your case isn't helped by old "Delta 6", another paragon of quick wit and informed debate, jumping in on your side. He's more or less threatened us with armed response in the past, which shows how secure he is with his democracy. Yep, that's how our great country's gotten so great. Anytime anybody says anything you don't like, just wave your gun around till they shut up. Good plan.

NEXT.

Soar, eagle, soar!

Wow, and here I thought I was giving M1 some advice about not wanting Delta 6 on his team... turns out they're already on the same team. In fact, they're the same person. Same IP address on all the comments. Go figure.

Patting yourself on the back under a different name is the surest way to win credibility. Keep it up.

Yet again I say - NEXT.

Do you think WE are so stupid to not think of that.
It might surprise you that there are a few of us at
this IP. It appears that you caught us emulating
you BOY. I have yet to find a site more worthy of OUR attention than this one. But, I'm sure you understand how we just can't let this go, no matter the whining about your TV appearance, the
miraculous way you "pulled it off", etc.
By the way "dip shit", you don't have a clue what made this country great. You do, however, bear a striking resemblance to (what I'm sure is one of your heroes)....Benedict Arnold.
Hey...check out the website PROBUSH, add your name to the TRAITOR list and become even more FAMOUS....I'm sure your family is sooooo proud of their BOY.
...WE are all so hurt by the reference to
"simpletons" and "trolls"....actually WE like the troll one. Not bad for a cowardly punk.....WE are also very impressed with your high opinion of yourself. It is about YOU.
OUR group of PATRIOTS have been informed that WE are not the only ones interested in your site.
One last thing.....WHY NOT IN AMERICA?? WHY??

BOY: AKA...LUKE THE PUKE
If you think WE have made reference to armed response then you have obviously NEVER had anyone
respond to you armed. Just another feather in your CAP OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
If you dedcide to visit the PROBUSH website, you will notice you too can be in the company of some of (what WE are sure is) YOUR modern day heroes.....AKA: TRAITORS.

WHY NOT IN AMERICA??? WHY NOT IN SOUTH CAROLINA?

Just keep talking, cowboy. You're doing yourself proud.

Must be pretty early there though. You must not have had your coffee yet, that's it. Wrong side of the bed?

"You need only reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a
reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in their struggle for
independence."- Charles A. Beard

":since you are obviously not a patriot", this M1 / Delta 6 wrote to Luke.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was in George Orwell's book '1984' that the almighty Party that runs Great Britain is able to keep that power by making sure that the masses are ready to accept fewer food rations if given enough patriotism to keep them quiet. (And that is why England has always been at war with Eurasia - or Oceania. Whatever the opponent's name, just keep the war and the patriotic flagwaving going.)

Sound familiar?

But then again, I suppose M1/Delta 6 takes great pride in mindlessly running after the flag - no matter who raises it.

But boy, how happy I would be as an American politician, knowing that there are people like M1 / Delta 6 who would - without thinking - believe anything I say! It would certainly make my life a lot easier, and much more fun too! Imagine me calling M1 / Delta 6 into my office every day and telling him to jump, and all he'd ask every time would be "Yes sir, how high?"

*pets M1/Delta 6* Good, good boy *pet pet* Want a cookie? *ARF! ARF!*

Dear God, what is going on here? Look M1 or Delta or whoever you are, if you think those who oppose the Bush administration are so pointless, stupid and insignificant, why bother to come here with the vitriol? And how dare you impugn our patriotism because it does not chime with yours. The United States is built on the tradition of dissent - if you've read your history properly you should understand this, from the Pilgrims on up, many of those who went to the United States did so fleeing persecution and sought a country where their beliefs could be expressed without fear. That is what is in the Constitution.

Opposing the current incumbants of the White House IS NOT the same thing as being against America, any more than thinking your kids are going out with the wrong people means you don't love them any more. The reason those of us who have become involved in EAB have done so is precisely because Luke set it up on the basis of deep concern and care for the country. The premise is that of the main march poster that was produced 'Proud of My Country, Shamed by My President'. The given government of the day is not the same as the entire country - if you opposed Clinton, I'm sure you agree with that.

People who seem to assume that Louis XIV's dictum 'L'etat c'est moi' should hold true for every head of state have forgotten what democracy means: it means dissent. It means that you can criticise your government if you believe it is harming the country. It means you can do so without losing your job, your home or your life. If you don't believe in the right of your fellow citizens, even those who have had the temerity to leave the hallowed shores of the USA and look over the horizon to other parts of the world, to voice and discuss their opposition to whoever happens for either 4 or (heavens forbid) 8 years to be in charge, then I wonder what you'd say to Aung San Suu Kyi in Burma, who has been under house arrest for most of the last 20 years for daring to believe just that in the face of the military regime who nullified the election which would have placed her party in power.

Patriotism is way beyond who happens to be in government at any time, war or no war. Patriotism is the loyalty deep in the guts to the land, its history, its people, its symbols, its achievements, its possibilities, its values. That there is some dissent and discussion as to interpreting some of that is what should make it a living, vibrant democracy. I'm very sorry you can't see that, since it seems to me to be very unAmerican not to understand it.

Ah, this is good for a laugh:
http://www.probush.com/traitor.htm

I love the definition of "traitor":
Traitor: If you do not support our President's decisions you are a traitor.

Man, you can't make this stuff up.

Alexandra,

Although I admire your courage, I'm afraid that your reaction to M1 / Delta 6's "writings" are a bit of a useless exercise.

M1/Delta 6's mindset is pretty much comparable to that of the ordinary SA (Sturm Abwehr) trooper in Germany of the 1930s: never mind thought, never mind thinking for yourself, never mind being critical, just follow the leader and all will be well.

That, or the mindset of the ordinary Komsomol Youth Trooper in the Soviet-Union. Same thing.

But you have to admit that "they" are awfully manly.

Kaj,

I take your point and I know, but figured it had to be worth a go. Something to do with mindfulness over mindlessness - not wanting to write off a lost cause without a bit of a fight!

But.....manliness! Woof woof!

Now that our interlopers seem to have fled the premises, does anyone have any valid input on the Absentee Ballot Voting guide I put up? Any suggestions on how to make it easier to read?

That depends.....are you manly?

LUKE

WE are interesting in talking to YOU about how we can register to vote from OVERSEAS as EXPATRIATES.

Maybe YOU can TELL US HOW to DO THAT.

Oh MAN!!!! I missed out on this "debate" {facetiously said}, damn!!! I really wanted to know if Delta 6 was talking about Intel, the company, or intel as in The Men In Black....

Luke,

Pity you can't put something up where questions could be submitted and then responded to without all the shouters and name callers....

A couple of questions for you as regards Absentee Voting. Having lived overseas before and knowing that mail may, at times, take a while to get from there to here I was wondering what's the usual time now for mail to arrive here in the States?
I guess I'm wondering what the window of time is for someone to get their ballot in to their place of residence? A week, two weeks, longer?

Does one have to include some proof of identity when submitting an Absentee Ballot? Yeah, yeah I know it's probably a dumb question, bear with me.

Perhaps scheduling a day or two where people can gather to fill out their ballots something like a voting place here and if they have questions someone's there to answer them. I don't know if it's acceptable but, perhaps maybe even gathering all of the sealed ballots and posting them in bulk so they'll get here in time for submitting. The last thing you'd want is to go through all this trouble only to discover your votes didn't get here before the deadline and were not counted.

Just some thoughts.

Just checked out the website of those two intellectual giants and like some of us have been saying there ARE extremists on both sides.

Not so sure that there are actually 2 of them.

....the good news is that we can take off our bullet proof vests now that they're gone

Keep your helmets on just in case they return.

Last thoughts on them and then I'll drop it. I just reread all of the posts and have to say. Alexandra, Bravo well stated in your posts... Bravo!!

Gee... what did I miss?

Here I was not paying attention to this section because I'm stateside and have no idea about absentee voting and look at all the action I missed out on...

Ah well...

To think - some thought I was Delta/6.

he-he-he...

Lesson to all - see what happens when one is an extreme - in any direction!

Del,

I know what you mean, I responded to the first volley got replies and the next day it was a flurry of posts that, quite frankly, makes one proud.

Luke and company beat off the extremists with a flurry of well placed verbal rights followed up with some extremely well placed verbal lefts.
I was wincing as I read them... :o)

It seems we were not disappointed by the responses...it was just too easy.
All of us thank all of the participants...you all
did your leader and yourselves proud.
This is no challenge....we move on.
I win my bet with my buddies...
See how easy it is to get people to believe you are something you are not.
GOOD LUCK.

PS:
Take care EAB. There are some REAL threats out there.

VETS

Oh look, they're back. Question for you Delta6 or whoever you are. Since the likes of Bin Laden, Hussein, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollha, Hamas, Al Qaida, and all the fantatical clerics practice hatred and violence and groups like the Klu Klux Klan, White Supremacists Groups, and other groups also preach hatred and violence something like you seem to do or hint at I'm wondering if all of you attended the same school? So, were you all classmates?

I am a Vet, a Vietnam Vet and just so you know my brothers and sisters who died in that war and the generations before them who also died in wars just as those who are now giving their lives in this war all of us have done so to defend Our country, Our freedom, Our Constitution, Our Bill of Rights so that people like the EAB as well as people like you have Freedom of Speech. And Damn you for dirtying our shed blood with your Bull Shit of hatred, intolerance, and suttle threats of violence.

You want to join with people like Bin Laden, Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and all of those other terrorist groups and their practice of hatred and violence by all means BE LIKE THEM.

Members of EAB have just as much a right to the Freedom of Speech, whether or not you agree or disagree, as you do so if the only thing you've got is spitting out more hatred and more of the suttle threats violence like Hussein, Bin Laden, Al Qaida, and the rest you're really wasting your time and only showing whom you really are. Just another Terrorist. Say hello to Hussein, your buddy, for me when you attend your next class reunion.

Oh, PS

When you have your class reunion Delta 6 be sure convey this message to your classmates Hussein and Bin Laden. Go to the farthest ends of the Earth and find the deepest hole and crawl into it and We Will Still Find You.....

chrish

didn't know you were a vietnam vet.

Respect!

I feel pretty threatened by Vets, alright.

I mean, of course, except from Chris.

Oh, and except for the World War II vet that marched with us last month.

Oh yeah, and that other vet:
http://expatsagainstbush.typepad.com/photos/stop_bush_protest_plannin/182_8250.html

Aside from that, though, I am sure that ALL the other veterans are after us. Possibly.
