EAB in Oz

It's time to welcome a new country chapter of Expats Against Bush to the fold. Our newest chapter, Australia, comes to us courtesy of Chad Thiesen, a Melbourne-based American expat who was (in his own words) politically apathetic before the last election, but like many of you he has been stirred to action in advance of next year's election because the thought of any more time spent under Bush's leadership makes his skin crawl.

Read his very heartfelt opening post on the brand-new EAB Australia page:

Welcome aboard Chad!

PS Chad is getting in touch with some folks in Sydney, but we want to hear from all you other Yanks in Australia, as we will need to get meetings going in every major Australian city with an expat community. So if you're interested in signing up and helping out, let me know. Of course, this still goes for other countries as well - we need a worldwide presence to make a difference.

I'd just like to say that, if I wasn't still in high school in the US, I would be an expat, probably to Australia, since the American and British governments are seemingly one and the same right now. I decided that as a young person, emmigrating might be advantageous right now. I am so proud to be an American. I am proud of what we should stand for. But I am embarassed by much that seems to be said about us, and our current political situation. i've heard that foreign countries refer to large vehicles as "yank tanks". i'm not sure if this is true. Still, quite embarassing.
