Three Takes on the State of the Union

It was both interesting and reassuring to me to find out that I am not alone in feeling (quite literally) sick to my stomach whenever I view Bush or hear him on the news. Here are three different journalists' take on Bush's "State of the Union" address.
The first journalist, Maddi Bee, apparently feels much the way I do in her article entitled Sickness in the Belly-Bush, Nexus of Nausea Axis of Anxiety:

"I went to bed Tuesday evening feeling absolutely whipped and sick to my stomach. After trying to watch the appointed president’s State of the Union speech for 15 minutes I could stand it no longer. Nausea was rising from my belly. Seeing the puppet administration and jack-in-the-box congress popping up and down at every sentence was enough to do me in.
Why must we be subjected to the ongoing lies of this man and his keepers on almost every TV channel? His words are like so many slaps in the face. Since he didn’t fulfill the promises from the last State of the Union why should we believe his silly phrases this year?
Why should we believe he has answers to stave off the massive depression coming because of his huge deficit creation? Is he kidding? Is that what the silly smirk is about?" (rest of article on link above)

I'm with you, Maddi. Believe me, I hear you loud and clear.
The next journalist, Greg Palast, in No Child's Behind Left:The State of the Union's New Educational Eugenics observes:
"Go ahead, George, and lie to me. Lie to my dog. Lie to my sister. But don't you ever lie to my kids.
Deep into your State of the Siege lecture tonight, long after sensible adults had turned off the tube or kicked in the screen, you came after our children. "By passing the No Child Left Behind Act," you said, "We are regularly testing every child ... and making sure they have better options when schools are not performing."
You said it ... and then that little tongue came out; that weird way you stick your tongue out between your lips like the little kid who knows he's fibbing. Like a snake licking a rat. I saw that snakey tongue dart out and I thought, "He knows."
And what you know, Mr. Bush, is this: you've ordered this testing to hunt down, identify and target for destruction the hopes of millions of children you find too expensive, too heavy a burden, to educate." (rest of article on link above)

Jay Shaft, the third writer, in his article The Real State of the Union simply blasts Bush clean out of the water with facts, reports and statistics and concludes by saying
"If the US took just 25% of their annual military budget, it could go a long way to wiping out hunger and homelessness around the world. Just 10% of our military budget spent yearly on America's children could give every high school graduate a college education for four years.
It seems like it is not a priority to protect our children from starvation and living on the streets. Our education system is crumbling and the child welfare programs are being slashed mercilessly.
Increasingly in America, private foundations and organizations are stepping in to take up the slack that the government fails to adjust for. Most charities are reporting budget shortfalls due to the government cutting programs that provide their funding and resources.
If this crisis continues, we are in danger of actually having worse hunger and homelessness than some third world countries. The military expansion and occupation must stop so that we can salvage our future. We must do this before it is too late to stop the landslide of poor and starving.
We must put our priorities in line with the welfare of all our citizens. We cannot afford to neglect our people any longer. There must be a call of reckoning to stop this depriving of anyone their basic needs to exist.
I don’t know where Bush got the idea that everything was going great here in America. He obviously gets his facts from a different source than the rest of us.
The true State of the Union shows a nation in crisis with growing poverty, hunger, homelessness, and lack of decent jobs that pay enough to support a family. Our children are the ones that seem to be paying the highest price with 60% living in poverty or low-income situations.
How much longer can we ignore these growing problems before it is too late to fix them? Can we really afford to ignore them for even another day?"(rest of article on link above)

well, his last State of the Union speech was riddled with lies and half-truths. How anyone can take the man at his word again is beyond me, but apparently there are many who are so inclined.

Dump the educational system, why throw good money after bad. It's only filled with beauracrats stuffing their pockets with your tax money and pumping out subjects like Alternative Lifestyles, Sex Eductaion, Bilingual Education, and the best one of all "Self Esteem". They busy themselves by producing generations who are functionally illiterate and blame everybody else for their
imcompetence. But then isn't that their mantra?
No Personal Responsiblity, No Accountability; it's everybody else's fault, it's Their fault.
But that's OK, the taxpayer's will pay for it.

So what if your kid can't read, write, nor do basic math. Doesn't he/she feel good about themselves? What're you all worked up about?

The educational system is working exactly as planned. The member's of the school board and their cronies are doing exactly what they have planned; dummy down your kids and ensure their own financial well-being is secure. You've bought into it and you're paying for it so what's the problem?

Dummy down the subjects taught and dummy down the tests so the kids appear to be learning something
what's wrong with that? Just throw more money at the educational system so the fat cats at the top of the food chain can put more into their pockets.
After all, we must ensure the financial well being and the retirement package for the pigs feeding at the trough.

The educational system is crumbling you say? Let it crumble. It has been crumbling for the past 30-40 years and that's Bush's fault isn't it?
Or, is it possible it's the pigs who've infested the educational system concerned only with their own well being, financial health, and personal agenda's and are quite content to produce generations who are functionally illiterate? Oh wait, that's right it's not Their fault; it's everybody else's fault; isn't it?

Liberalism Conservatism? They're just distorted mirror images of each other with the usual band of groupies pimping their prostitute politicians, draped in the American flag proclaiming that they and they alone are masters and owners of the Truth.... Truth, what's that you ask? Depends upon which group you listen to. They are, after all, masters and owners of the Truth.
Whether they're the goose stepping Liberals or the goose stepping Conservatives what's the difference. They both want more of your hard earned money to increase their salaries and their retirement package. Didn't you know that's what they're really after? Your money, whatever were you thinking of?

Dump the educational system, why bother teaching the kids anything that they can't learn on the streets, cause they sure as hell aren't teaching them anything of real importance now. Unless, of course, you consider "Self Esteem", Alternative Lifestyles, Other Religions, and more Sex Education classes as important. But they can get that in the streets so why bother with it?

How about this? If they want to give them more sex education classes how about just hiring a bunch of pedophiles and let them teach the kids?
The kids will get sex education and if there's any pregnancies then they can just have that thing growing in their wombs dumped out. The good news; taxpayer's will pay for it all.
